Optima bracket
So, I searched the site and came up with what looks to be the best way to mount an Optima battery in a mid-year car....a bracket sold by AJ-USA. So, I went to the other site and couldn't seem to find it. Does anyone know where I can get one of these brackets? I guess it's a flat aluminum plate that you bolt the battery to and it slides under the *lip* battery holder on one end and uses the factory bolt on the other. I'm sure that I could make one if I had to....does Wayne sell one?
Thanks -Patrick |

I just went through this myself. I think they are having trouble with their site right now. If you try to Search it says the Catalog is temporarily unavailable.
Their part number is AJR 611 211 Battery Adapter Plate. It cost $30.97 plus $9.00 shipping. It's pretty basic but it works. Here is a pic from someone else's post: ![]() I recommend you file the pointy angles to soft curves so they don't scratch anything. Here is my Optima 34R installed in my Slantnose. ![]()

Patrick, Is that aluminium or just sheet steel? I need one of those as well and was going to have my brother fabricate one for me. (he works in a steel fab shop) It would probably be made out of stainless. If you are interested let me know. All he needs is a template. I'm guessing it would be less than $40. I can check with him if you want.

It's aluminum. Somebody published a template I think in Pelican.
Edit. Look at Will Ferch's post in this thread: Optima battery questions

I followed the general template that appears in the other thread and made my own. Very easy, if you are inclined.
I used scrap 1/4" sheet aluminum that I got at a recycle yard (was an old road sign). Cost was $7. Laid out the template on paper and ensured it fit the holes in the car. Cut the aluminum with a jig saw, finished the corners with a hand file and then swirled the aluminum with a wire brush on my drill. Countersunk the bottom of the plate in 4 places where the battery was to be mounted to the plate and used a set of 4 machine screws, washers and nylon lock washers. I installed in the trucnk with the original bolt. I didn't add a lip to the back of the plate, as the 1/4" fit perfectly. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but the hardest part was finding the aluminum. Plus, it's nice knowing I actually built something for my car.

Nice going Lance. I bet with the wire brush treatment it looks good too. The AJ unit I bought was just regular aluminum and had some scratches so I did the same thing when I installed it. You never see it but you know it still looks good!

Here's my version, used aluminum bar I had lying around, bought some threaded rod and some nuts. Took about 2 hours and cost me about $10.
