Fitting Shifter Bushes

Hiya guys, would love some advice.

I have recieved my order from Pelican for my bushes.Coupler, cup and shift rod.

I have taken off the boot that surrounds the shift mechanism and have taken the three large bolts off but can not seem to undo the two small bolts that hold the shaft in place. Is it possible to change the bushes without removing these bolts?

If anyone has pics of the shifter, that would be helpful.

Also my shifter seems to have been welded at some point, does that mean I have a short shifter.

Any comments would be helpful.

I did this just yesterday. I don't think you can remove the shifter without getting those two 5mm bolts off. The factory epoxied the shift lever into the receptacle. I welded mine as it was loose. So, the weld only indicates someone was in there before you.

Re: Fitting Shifter Bushes

You do have to remove those bolts. I stripped mine. I strongly advise you get hex sockets if you don't have them already. They did drill out real easy however if you do strip them.

Two other options may be to :

Use visegrips to clamp and loosen.

Use a disc cutter to cut a slot in each and use a large flat head screwdriver to loosen.
