essentials to keep on hand???
As a newbie, I am curious as to what seems to be the norm for parts and tools to always keep in your car. I tried doing a search and didn't really find what I was looking for. Also what manuals to buy. I was planning on ordering a Bentley manual and 101 Projects for your 911, anything else??

The books you mention are a must.
Depending on year, parts you should keep on hand (in the car) are... Fan belt DME relay Extra fuses Just to name a few. The original Porsche tool kit is pretty goood as a road side fix it package. Make sure you have an air pump for your spare tire. Welcome to the board!

Even if well equipped with a gold card & a cell phone, I would suggest the tools and the learned skills to perform 2 operations:
Change a flat. AND Change a fan belt. The fan belt is most critical because an air cooled 911 cooks rapidly without one.
