912-6 value?

Hey Guys,

Trying to survive my situation in life, simply put, I've been taken to the cleaners by my ex.

I'm trying my hardest to keep my baby, but I don't know how long I can keep justifying her. I put a lot of blood sweat and tears into her, but don't have an objective view to be able to value her.

What in the lists opinion would be a good value to place on the 912-6? Specs:

76 912e body, no sunroof
newly added sc flares, welded
glass ducktail
79 sc 3.0. all new head studs on bottom end rebuild, euro cis system, carrera exhaust and cat bypass pipe
Mocal fender mount cooler
79 sc 915 tranny in excellent shape
86 carrera brakes, front and rear with proportioning valve
993 7 and 9 x 17 rims with toyo ra1 tires
21 and 26mm torsion bars
stock sway bars front and rear
minimal interior, sparco seats, left and right
m&r 6 point belts left and right
autopower roll bar
new restoration design front pan
new bushings in all four corners
bilstein shocks front, koni reds rear

probably other stuff I can't remember at this point, I still need to finish painting the rear fenders since I put the flares on, still in epoxy primer. Capable of times similar to other race prepped sc's. My instructors have always been impressed by the cars power. Car is still street legal, but a little stiff on the road.

So what do you guys think, is she worth anything?

Thanks for your input....

John,

First off, I sympathize for you in your situation. BTDT.

Secondly, I think your main goal would be to get potential buyers to see your car as "the sum of it's parts" and not a 1976 912E as what you essentially have is a lightweight SC with some additional mods.

Using that logic, I would hope that you could get something north of $10k without difficulty. Maybe $12k or so. Completing the cosmetics will be key.

Your car is actually very similar to mine. My '76 RoW 911 has no sunroof and the same interior as a 912E. I also have SC flares and alot of the other mods that you've done. I've always hoped my car would be worth $12k-$15k.

Good luck.

Mike

The primer might drop it a little bit but, not as much as a bad paint job would. estimate the value low and pay her for her half.. keep it!

Harold, I got all my toys, just don't know if I can keep them with the bills I got stuck with.

Get a 2nd job on the weekend at home depot..or bankrupt the stupid debt if you really need to.. a friend who is in collections did this after a divorce and rebuilt his credit in a year..They also look at your good credit before bankruptcy.. all R1's and then bankrupt and R1's again...then go get a small loan to piddle with the car for a grand and pay it off through a high interest place...his credit was 640 (good enough for a house) in a year...

How the hell do these women get so much friggin' money from their exes to be that some guys never recover? It's B#!!$4!T.

That car will be a hard sell for anything near what you have in it. Keep it and finish it. Get the second job for a few months if you need to.

Deuce Bigalow it...

When it comes to track cars and the market for them I think whether the car started as a 912 or 911 matters little. Some of the awesomest ones started as 912s.

My advice would be, if you can't keep it, to do what you can to market it to the track guys. Race cosmetics, weight reduction, etc. Just don't market it as a 912/6. It's a track car with a good shell from a 912.

P.S. If you can't get what it's worth then part it out and maybe keep the shell for when you get back on your feet.

i am gonna let this thread get longer, and then i am gonna cross reference names with that pre nup thread a few months ago.

now for this thread.. is the car potentially for sale because the wifey wants half? or are you selling to raise funds to pay for divorce cost?

if #1 then look up cost for 912e and give her a few bucks.
if #2 sell it and good luck.

hate to see people go through this.....

Get rid of the beamer ..keep the 912e/6

They get so much money because the divorce laws, at least in California five years ago, still tended to favor women with an unstated bias that women probably make less money (and they do but not as consistenyl as when those laws were enacted) and that they will most likely get custody of the children.

I've written to John personally, but I don't mind repeating that after 20 years and the divorce being her idea with NO cheating, beating, money problems, etc, nothing you would expect, I still got stuck hard....and according to friends, I did okay. My pensions went untouched though my IRA rollover was essentially gutted and just in time for the downturn in the stock market. At the end I had no house, had to sell my car, had to take on all the marital debt (that was the result largely of repeated separations, getting apartments, etc). Paid both sets of legal fees.

Almost 6 years later, I've got a house I am restoring - not in the best part of town as before, but.... Got a couple of Porsches and my credit has recovered. I am fine. You DO get through it.

You go Dan :)

Thank you Frank, I am trying. I'll never have as much money as I once had (not that I had all that much!) but I've got Porsches now (YIPPEEE!) a big Dodge Ram 4x4, my girlfriend thinks I pinned the moon. All is well. Oh, and it's my house, I am NEVER "in trouble" anymore.
