Feedback thru ignition, engine run on.

I had some stereo work done that may have allowed some electrical feedback thru my ignition. Only way to kill the motor is to pop the clutch in gear.

Key switch is turned off, engine continues to run on. Gauges still work like the gas gauge and tach, but accessories like lights and radio shut off.

I have pulled the electrical connection off of the back of the key switch after it was turned off and the engine STILL runs.

Beyond pulling every fuse in the fuse box to track the circuit the feedback is cominmg thru, I am stumped.

I have NOT changed the ignition system...on one of my other rides the addition of an MSD ignition required a diode in the D+ circuit...so that's NOT it.....

If the stereo gear isn't hardwired, pull the connections and test for switched or continuous +12V with the key both on and off. You might be able to find the feed by just tracing a few of those wires that can bridge battery power to the key.

Where did they pull power for stereo work? Some are keyed and some are 12V hot always. Sounds like they disconnected and then reconnected in the wrong spot. Take it back and have them fix or at least tell what wires they pulled.

Once the car is off, check to see if you have 12V at the ignition box. That should be keyed.

I just encountered and solved this same problem.

Pulling the red RELAY and/or the fuse to the DME/fuel pump kills it....I'm getting power while the engine is running....once the engine is killed by popping the clutch, power mysterously dissapears....

So...where is this mystery B+ wire?
