Real vs Repro Fuchs
I seen several threads that discuss the performance issues between the repro Fuchs vs the OE forged Fuchs wheels. I am still fairly new in un the Porsche ownership, but is there a way to visually determine which is on the car? If not, what is the best process to find this out? Removing the tire and weighing it?
Thanks a lot. |
Kolies having had a set of fake and real ones, gotta say the real ones kick ass over the fake heavy ones. If you can not take the wheels off, check the rim itself out, I know the FAKE ones I had had defects in the syles which you could see easily

After seeing enough real ones, the fakes will stick out. They look a little to "hard edged" compared to the smooth real fuch lines. Best to look inside for stamping like shown to verify. |
I can spot (most) fakes from 30 feet now. If you look you'll notice that the paddle on a repro is narrower towards the center of the wheel- where they all come together. Also, the rim outside the paddles has a sharper edge on the repro's.
I have one repro that looks EXACTLY like an authentic Fuchs wheel though, it has no markings at all. It'll make a good spare. Bob O |
