Locking gas cap, no keys!!!!

A friend of mine lost the keys to her after market bayonet style locking gas cap. I bought her the correct locking gas cap for her 86 Volkswagen Cabriolet, $15, but want to know, how do I remove the ŌKragenĶ locking gas cap?

IÕve heard you can lightly hammer a screw driver into the key hole and turn with a little force but does anyone know if there is a correct way to do this?

I donÕt understand how someone can lose the gas cap key but not the car key but hey, just because I would put the two keys on the same ring doesnÕt mean everybody would???

For Porsche content I will be driving my 911 over there when I rescue her from herself.
