cost to replace windshield - 89 911?
any idea on the cost to replace a windshield on a 89?
|
I had a new one put in a couple months ago for about $170.

$170 to $600, depending on what you get talked into. ;)
Safelite will do it close to the lower end, if you get aftermarket glass (which many think is better than the soft German stuff). Make sure you know if you want a tinted stripe across the top. It's a good idea to get a new OEM seal, too. I think Pelican sells them. |
With the assumption that you are referring to an '89 3.2 and not a C4, make sure that you specify the part number of the glass you are replacing, as '89 3.2's used two different windshields/seals depending on build date.
The last of the '89 3.2 cars built after mid-October '88 until the end of production in the Spring of '89 were built with the slightly larger 964 windshield and the trimless 964 seal. Don't mix and match. Tim |
so called German glass has a wider tint band than PPG. The V-1 hides better behind the German and doesn't seem degraded by the tint afaik in my use. I found the so called shop lingo and shop book names for an '88 w/antenna and let a friend do the shopping.
I have a Sigla pn FW00504 GG COM, Green tint, I paid $275 wo tax, list $773.05. and I know a pelicanhead that see's road stones routinely and he says the PPG is stronger to stone chips and won't crack as fast as the German on a real blast. around here a good shopper can get the German for about 50% off list. |
