H-4 Headlights??? are mine wrong??

I have been meaning to ask this question for years.. I have a 77 with the glass H-4 headlights, well is their a left and a right to this setup?? The glass all looks like it is cut for one to be a left and one a right, well mine are both the same. That also goes for the reflecting lens inside of the glass lens where the adjustment screws go. they are both on the same spots on both side... anyways this seams to make a perfect headlight alingment imposible, seams my drivers side light is always a little bit to close to the yellow line.

This should be a quick one for you all to answer. I'll post a pic if you all need it... further if I do have two of one side, is anyone else in the same situation???? maybe we can trade????

I just ordered a set from PP and they are both the same with the glass cut both on the same side. Yours are fine.

Supposedly in RHD cars the glass is cut the other way (glare goes to the left instead of the right?)

If you were to observe the light as it is projected on a garage door or wall. You will see that there is a horizontal line with a rise to the right of about 15 deg.. The rise will send light further up the shoulder of the road without blinding oncoming drivers. Both left and right are the same.

what about the trim ring with the adjusting screws?? should they be in the same spots? the funny thing is the lenses have a arrow on them, as in left and right. I just can't get them linned up correctly, one side seems to always do its own thing. Also as I remember the adjustment screws are differant lenghts... one side has a real long screw as when the same spot on the other side dose not, the screw is much shorter. Something is not right. I seems the drivers side is doing exactly what it should not be doing(it is up alittle high, and points at on coming traffic) can i at least get a trim ring that alows the adjustment screws to be at 4:30 and 10:30 as in on a clock instead of at 1:30 and 7:30 like they are now??

P.S. any one like how i took the whole headlight apart and painted the inside non reflective metal parts all black to match the car, I made the headlight look alot darker when the lights are off. You can see in on the bottom between the glass and the reflective lens. It would normally be silver, i do recomend it to anyone doing the upgrade to H-4's, It would look cool painted to match the car on say a blue car.

the lenses with the arrows are for the H1 lights. the HIs have two bulbs instead of one bulb like the H4s. the lenses do interchange, but the fluting does not relate to the other light unit and light output and aim are compromised. i see them with the wrong lenses all the time. H1s have four adjusting screws that relate to the arrows, and H4s have only two screws and no arrows. so what do you really have?

I have 1 bulb w/two filliments, I was under the impression the H1 set up had the lens inside the houseing, and was straight up and down, and the H-4 had the big thick glass lense like you see on my car. So standing five feet from the car you can't visually tell the differance between H-1, and H-4?

the lenses fit the same way on both. H1 lens has a clear top and H4 is mottled. get a H4 lens and they will work right.

OK i just went out to look at them, they say H4 right in the center of the lens... but they both have arrows on them pointing to the drivers side of the car.

must be euro. the ones over here don't have arrows. the H1 has up/down and sideways arrows next to A(low beam) and F(high beam).

I'll have to see if I can get a clear picture of them.....

If they where Euro lenses wouldn't the v cut in the lens direct the light towards the drivers side of the car??
