Sydney - Cars for sale and a PPI

A question for Sydney Pelicanites.

A mate of mine is looking is looking to buy a 911 at the moment and pickings are a little thin on the ground up here in Brisbane (at least in his price range which is up to say $27k). There are a couple of cars in Sydney that look interesting and he is keen on going down to have a look at them. My questions are:

1) Do you guys know of any other good cars in the price range I've mentioned? I know it’s the lower end of the scale and he acknowledges that the cars he's in the market for are not going to be in the best condition. He's looking for something that is basically mechanically sound, but the body and interior do not have to be great.
2) There is currently a blue 2.7 and a black 2.2E, both with 3.0 transplants. Does anyone know these cars and their condition (links below)?
3) Can you recommend a good workshop to get a PPI done? I assume Bob Whymms would be a good start?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd strongly recommend Nic at Europesport for the PPI. PM me if you need the details.

Bob Whymms is good too. You could also pick depending on the location of the cars.

The interior of the 2.7 is a scary!

The 2.2 is an update which also scares me a little!

Can't comment on Nic but can say that Bob is a straight up no bs kind of guy & they certainly know their stuff. They won't miss much.

Don't forget we have an Australian forum here too.

To answer your question both cars seem a bit pricey esp. the 2.2 which is no longer a long nose but if that's what your friend wants.

Thanks for the feedback and PPI recommendations.

Yep, we realise these cars are "bitsa's", but he's on a strict budget from the wife and finding a reasonably sound, original coupe at or under an asking price of $25k seems quite a task (although there is another 2.7 for sale in Sth Aust for $21,800). The only other option is a Hong Kong delivered SC in Casino for $2k that we hope to have a look at this weekend.

Given that you would expect to talk them down a little from the quoted price (i.e. $1.5-$2k), what would you expect to pay for a car as described?

Oh, I forgot to mention that this car is going to be used primarily as a trackday car, not a daily driver.

Thanks Waz, that's the kind of Pelicanite camaraderie we like to see!

What's going on in SA, there seem to be a lot of midyear 911's for sale down there at ok prices? The distance from Brisbane makes an assessment of cars down there difficult, getting down to look at the car and then getting it back here is going to add the best part of $1,000 to the cost, so your offer may come in very handy.

No probs. Let me know if i can help. Happy to have a look at a car myself forst, then we can determine if a full on PPI is warranted.

You should be able to locate some fairly decent 3.0 cars in Sydney for the $25 to $30K mark - albeit imports (HK).
