I would like to thank all of the members who participate in this forum. Since I bought my 80 911SC with 3.2 motronics engine 2 months ago, I have done a few minor projects (shocks replacement, clutch adjustment, Gear Oil and Engine Oil change - not to mention the viscosity selection, etc.) with a lot of help from reading past threads.
Now I am going after a leak which appears to be coming from the bellcrank throttle linkage on the side of the transmission. Reading the diagram from some of past threads, I don't think gear oil leak can come from this. I am sure it is gear oil leak because of the smell. Or it could be coming from above which just appears to be coming from the bellcrank. Any help is very appreciated.

Use a pressure washer or just some brakleen or something (depending on how much leakage there is) to clean the area very well, then put a few miles on it and the source of the leak should be much more obvious. Pics would help too...

Good suggestion. I will do this and take pics if leak source is still not obvious.
