Help - Rubbing Noise
I've recently noticed what sounds like an out of round rub or scraping sound coming from underneath when the car is in motion and I've been unable to trace the source. It doesn't seem like it's from one of the corners and braking doesn't make it go away. Sounds almost as if it's coming from somwhere around the trans. Thoughts?

Check your gear oil level.

More details please. Does it happend ALL the time or only when the clutch is out, going around turns, etc. Is it speed sensitive?
When did it start? What modifications have you made to the car? what tire sizes are you running? |
More info -
Clutch in or out doesn't seem to matter. I notice it at low speeds most often when I'm off the accelerator. |
Answers to my other questions might help with a diagnosis, but I'll venture you have a bad CV joint.

Dust shield rubbing on rotor?

I agree with PA911..especially since I just found this onmy 78SC this weekend. Jack it up and try each wheel till you locate the culprit. It could also be a brake caliper that is gummed up and does not retract correctly or a CV joint.
