Gallery of my '72T - please talk me into keep it!
Okay everyone, here is a gallery of my 1972 911T. Six pages' worth! This is the car I've been posting about since I recently joined, talking about rust.

When I found the firewall / parcel shelf rust, I agonized for a few hours, then resigned myself to giving up the car. After posting here and looking at your replies, and at pics of others' repairs to this area, I really think I can learn to weld and do the work myself! Never too late to pick up a new skill. I am going to do my best to cover the car - both flannel cover and blue tarp - to keep out water. I have a driver so at least I can protect it from rain. So. This weekend I will pick up a book on welding, and read some online as well. I know a couple of people who may be able to show me the ropes and possibly help out, but I am also on the lookout for anyone in the Atlanta area who can be generous with their time, skills, a space, or a donor vehicle. There is no rush, and by generous I do not necessarily mean free. I will need to very carefully plan and stash some money away first. If I can do the inside rear sheetmetal, then I will feel confident enough to tackle the front suspension pan. In the mean time, please talk me into keeping this car! This car looks very saveable; nothing too insane from the pics. I say take your time and fix her up! Take some inspiration from Tomy's thread on his resto. Do a search to find it.

Junk it...I'll offer you $200 for any spare parts I care to remove for my car. (Just kidding guys, JUST KIDDING!) Really, we'd have to see the rust pics, see how far she is gone...it's all a cost/benefit thing. Combined, of course, with your emotions. I mean, damn! Just look at those clean lines...'72 being the last year that the USA bureaucrats didn't help determine what a 911 should look like...not to knock the 73's, but those big rubber bumpers were the beginning of the end, aesthetically speaking...

Let me see if I can help Andrew post some pics. I pulled these from his own site on the link posted above. These are the worst areas and contain all the rust on the car. At least, all the rust that was in pictures.
Front pan, pass side: ![]() Rear deck: ![]() door latch post: ![]() ![]() There is also some bubbling along the outside edge of the front fender. It follows the vertical fender support. The car has nice clean rockers and jack points: ![]() These areas are easily fixable. The welding may be the easy part compared to cutting, grinding, removing parts, etc. But that's what Pelican is for. Save the car! It will be worth putting that back on the road.

Andrew, I hear you brother. You can find a couple of post by me that I started looking for some love.
I am restoring a signal yellow 72T right now. Here's the highlights: --it been in 2-3 accidents, one of them major enough to require replacement of the front clip at some point --it requires a minimum of 6 replacement panels from Restoration Design at a cost of about $600, and that's the ones I know about --it has at least 6-10 other minor rust repairs needed. But you know what? I'm ready to kick some serious rust a$s. It's called "pride" and "dedication" and, yes, "insanity." If you let that car go because of that, you are crazy. I love that pathetic POS '72 of mine. It would have gotten passed around a few times as a project and then cut up eventually. I looked upon it with pity and deemed it worthy of saving. Surely that is a noble act that will be smiled upon by the Porsche gods. (There does that help? )

i would keep it and fix it as it becomes affordable. it may take awhile so make sure you keep going to p events and hanging out here for inspiration. when you're done you will be a very happy man - guaranteed!
