Traveling companions 9/11/05 Oak Creek Canyon
We decided it was about time to take the Carrera out and see how the new 3.2 did after the 500 mile break-in period. Dave (with his sweet beemer) and I left Prescott and "ran" up Mingus Mountain to Jerome and down through Cottonwood to Sedona. Then we made the beautiful run through Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff along 89 and back down I-17 to 179 and across Beaver Flats to Cornville. From there we climbed back over Mingus and home. The switchbacks and turns on the mountain are soooo cool, especially on some of the chicannes where we really rocked.
We had several rice-jockeys who were more than willing to get up front and act as our unwitting sacrificial lambs for the Sheriff and Hwy. Patrol. The 3.2 has an incredible power boost over my old 2.7. Although I seldom got out of third gear, the straight-a-ways allowed some spurts of 125+ with more on tap. That little BMW of Dave's is a hot little monkey. We were all smiles all day! It was the fourth anniversary of 9/11. God bless America! If you guys are ever in northern AZ you don't want to pass up this amazing twisty tour.. Next time Kurt!
