RSR replica project update 3
Well time for another update as promised, hope no one is getting bored of this project yet.
As a lot of work has already been done I am doing updates about every 4 days or so until we get up to present day. Here you see my 1994 3.6 engine hanging around waiting for its upgrades, both cosmetic and performance ones. These include, RUF engine management chip, PMO 50mm carbs, Weltmeister RSR pully hub (not sure what that does) and a whole lot of re painting and cleaning. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads6/61127063186.jpg We decided to have the fuel filler cap mounted in the bonnet and used a motorcycle filler cap to acheive the effect we wanted. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127063348.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127063411.jpg A front mounted oil cooler is being used, we get quite nice locally manufactured ones here in SA. The body was cut at an angle to improve air flow. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127063584.jpg Front fenders are in place and the front end is starting to take shape and looking fantastic even if I say so myself. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127063687.jpg Rear arches and bootlid with tail have now been attached. I always wanted an RSR replica as I love the wide rear end, this shot says it all. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127064239.jpg Although it is not period correct, I wanted side sills on the car that flowed between the front and rear. I had these molded into the rear arches when they were made and here we are putting the final touches to joining them to the front fenders. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127064392.jpg Well thats it for now, next update in about 5 days. As usual, any comments, good or bad, always appreciated. |
I think I can speak for all when I say we are not bored of the project. Keep the updates coming.
That hood filler cap looks cool. Where did you get it? |
Chuck is correct, there can't be anyone here that would tire of seeing your updates. It looks like your really putting your own touches on what promises to be an awesome car. Keep up the good work!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif
Did I mention I'm envious of your skills? |
I agree with Chuck! Cool car in the making. When you go to carbs, what are you going to use for ignition? I saw you mentioned a RUF chip, but I am confused, as usual.

Nice work. I really like the gas filler setup!
|
yes really boring Johnny. Please continue boring us !
Cheers, |
Absolutely lovely.
Great neighborhood in which to do the work! Keep on boring us, please. David Duffield |
Thanks for the comments guys appreciate it.
I have put a close up below of the filler cap, came of a bike, bought a tank from a scrap-yard and just cut it out to fit, think it was a Suzuki or Honda. I am the guy the writes the cheques and is lucky enough to own the car when finished, but have no part in the skill involved in this project, that is all my mechanic and bodybuilder. With my knowledge it is dangerous to change a light-bulb. Not sure on ignition when we go to carbs, once again my mechanics area of expertise. Thanks once again. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127079875.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127079908.jpg |
Please, Please, carry on being boring, it going to look great.
Cheers Steve |

as the work will progress towards the end and the car will be near the complition, your anticipation will rise like a fever. Wait until the day you fire up that engine ! |

Johnny,
You mention as upgrades, a RUF chip and PMO carbs... How do those 2 go together ? |
PMO for fuel, RUF for ignition..
even though this thread is 7 years old..! |
