67 Fuel Pump Rebuild??

I'm wondering if the pump is rebuildable on a 67? It appears to be easily disassembled. I'm getting fuel starvation in the upper RPM range. The fuel system was stored with fuel in it for 16 or so years.

I do NOT want to replace it with a non-original style pump.

Check your screen on the fitting in your fuel tank. It may be plugged with rust and debris.

If its been sitting for 16 years your whole fuel system could need reworking. I'm working on a '68 that had been 'sitting' for most of the last 20 years and it was clogged with rusty slime from the fuel tank to the bowls in the webers. Take a look at some of the pics at
http://jamestperry.home.comcast.net/911/PP2.htm and subsequent pages. I've finally gotten it cleaned out but want to look inside the engine before starting it up.

The trouble is that the original pump is a points interrupter pump and the modern ones are electronic solid state. You might try buying a modern facet pump and swapping out the interior bits.

However, fuel starvation in the upper RPM range is probably NOT the pump's fault, it's more likely the float levels. Are you using a fuel pressure gauge? When is the last time you checked fuel pressure and the float levels?

Here's what I know about fuel pumps, well mostly anyway.
