Cool 1000th Post! 911 Drive photos included!

Well, this is my 1000th post here on Pelican! You guys have helped me a lot and I'm happy to contribute the little knowledge I know so far about 911s. I remember doing a Google search for info on how to repair something (I think it was the headlight) when this forum popped up. I never knew about the addicting consquences of joining! So, I was 15 when I joined/bought the 911 as I remember and thanks to you guys, now that I'm 16, I've gained so much knowledge here in a year. Anyway, Ive got a NEW AVATAR as well as some NEW DRIVE PHOTOS!!! These were taken yesterday while driving through the Berkeley hills on the twisties practically "next" to home. There are two that were taken earlier in the month as well.

That, my friend, is the view we get here in the Berkeley hills. Hey guys, if you see the Bay Bridge, if you look closely, right next to it you can see the construction of the new bridge. The camera made it look fuzzier than it really is. Das908kid, same to you too!

Cool! That would be very nice Cliff! BTW, where is the BOA building? Seven years sounds about right. Nearly 2 more years of H.S., then 4+ years of college, and.... I'll be doing someting of somesort.

Congrats Matt! You and I joined only two days apart and have essentially the same number of posts. I'm still a couple of days away from 1,000 though.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: beautiful car you've got there.

Great looking car Matt. And equally great Avatar!

And to think back when I was 16 I was driving a Buick station wagon.

Nice car again! I only wish I had scenery down here. All there is is water...Props from another young p-car owner.

My first car was a very sun-faded forest green Mercury Montego Station Wagon with a huge dent in the right front corner. That would have been in 1980.

It was a hand-me-down from one of my big brothers, who got it from my parents, who bought it new in 1972. What a piece of krap it was by the time I got it. To say it handled like a boat would have been an understatement. But hey, it was mine and it ran...for a while. The 351 Cleveland in it was the first engine I ever rebuilt on my own. Great learning experience.

Thanks again guys, Those are some pretty beefy first cars. I've always wanted a mid 80's Chevy Caprice or something of that sort for some odd reason. I guess I like the looks of the older GM cars. But then again, I'm weird . Eh, I'll buy one for like $800 when I'm in college and use and abuse it. The Porsche is by far the best car I've ever driven.
Here's my beater dream car, except I want mine "beefier". Maybe late 70's or a late model Chevy Biscayne.

Thats a great ride !

When I was 16 I rode a moped in the woods behind my home. In Sweden you had to be 18 to get a drivers license. My first car was of course American iron, albeit not very impressive - a Chrysler Valiant ´63. 3 gears manual with a big comfy sofa in front. My Grandmother, 85 years old, loved it - said it smelled of cigar and gentlemen !

Second car though was a 924, ´76 Canary yellow - the cutest car I ever saw. Had to sell it in when I started med. school. Lots of regrets - but on the other hand my studies led to a career that now allows me to drive a 911.

Cheers,

Markus, how do you like the 924 compared to the 911?

Matt, my first car was an 88 Caprice sedan I drove while finishing up the restoration on my '72 VW Beetle. It was a sweet ride! Baby blue, chrome bumpers, 305 V8. Definately a good first car. I gave it away to a friend who proceded to drive it through any and everything (can't be explicit for legal reasons...), and it just kept going. The gas mileage sucks, but other than that they are a fun car that has good period looks for what it is. I always wanted to put a high performance 350 in it. It'd be a good college car you put some 5 buddies in and still have room for beer in the trunk.

Nice car, not so sure about the Bay Area though.

Thanks for the info klaucke. Sounds like you had a lot of fun in college! I'll look into a few of those. Lagrassa, the camera made the bay area photo kind of fuzzy, but I agree, there is still quite a lot of smog.
