1983 911SC vacuum advice needed
Hiya
I'm a new 911 owner. I was just pokin around the engine and found that my deceleration valve has been plugged. Is this common to do? Does anyone recommend putting this back? I appreciate the help Thanks Vinny ![]() |

Many times the decel valve is plugged to solve a problem with a high idle, like at a stop light with the car in neutral. The car will come to a stop and the idle will hang at 3-4K RPM's and may or may not come down.

Depends why it was plugged. If it was sticking, as mine was, don't reconnect it. If it was sticking, you'll pull up to a stop and the idle will drop to about 1500 or so and may even start to rise.
The decel valve just lets the motor do a slower decel when you lift off the accel pedal. I removed the AAV and the Decel valve and left only the AAR.

Just plugged it in and yea it sticks. Seems to come and go though. Any thoughts on spraying carb cleaner in there might help?
Thanks again |
