Engine Trans Separation

I have dropped the motor and transmission assembly from my '78SC and have loosened the four tranny bolts but I am struggling to separate the motor from the tranny. Wayne's book recommends that you remove the clutch arm and helper springs and unfortunately I didn't do that before dropping the assembly- could this be causing the separation difficulties?

Yes. Jack up the assembly and get under there and drop the springs - they are tensioning the clutch assembly which is preventing separation. No worries, they are easy to remove. Then your trans will slide right off.
