Hi Fabien!

Congratulation to your cam swap! I was always afraid if the valve pockets on the pistons are deep enough not to touch the valves with the 964 cams. Did you have to machine the pistons or are they standard?

Concerning ignition timing, I would stay with the factory setting, as the slightly different cam timing shouldn`t affect the ignition needs of your engine.
Ignition timing depends more on change in combustion chamber design, compression ratio and fuel quality.
Of course the cylinder filling also plays a little role, but the difference between SC and 964 cams is not huge!
If you get the Shell Optimax fuel with 100Oktan in France you might set the ignition timing a little bit earlier and check very carefully that no pinging occurs around full throttle in the rev-range of the highest torque (around 4.500rpm). But be cautios, knocking and pinging is not easy to hear in our loud cars!

Sebastian
P.S. Very nice house!!

danke schon für deine Antwort, mein Deutsch ist sicherlich besser als mein English aber ich werde in English weiter schreiben.

I have the standard European piston for a 204cv : with a compression ratio of 9,8 : a have a picture with a 9,3 piston, you can see the difference :

i don't have really 964 camshaft but a set of 3.2 Carrera cams with the 964 profile. i have used the 1.25 mm setting, which is a little bit different compare to the standard setting : 1,10 mm. The car run perfect but i'm scare with the ignition timing .

I use the fuel 98 octane (1,30 euros pro liter in France ) , we don't have in France the Shell Power (it's only in germany).

Dein Deutsch ist perfekt, aber weiter auf Englisch!

Is your car faster or stronger than before? Is the difference worth the effort of dismantling half of the motor? I`m thinking about doing the same and I´m really curious!

If you only have 98 Octane (don`t worry about that, actual price of the 100 octane stuff is 1,46€ per liter, that wouId be 6,65 US$ p.gallon!!) I would stay with the factory ignition setting!

This is a well documented swap. It all fits fine with the factory parts.
The last one I did I used the stock ignition timing. The motor was noticibly stronger than before the swap, nice small bump in overall power.

Please, do not infer your post was ignored becuase of where you are from. Look around the forums or do some searching and you will see this is a worldwide community.

Congrats on your swap,
Cheers,
