So these things run on compressed air?

villaconn 09-24-2005 02:48 AM

I can't find it right now but I had a pretty lenthy video of a dutch guy (i think) that built a Ferrarri 330 P with a working engine & transaxle. Even the pedals and the shifter worked. Everything. All you needed was a miniature driver. THAT was sick.

a pelicanhead had a working gif diagram of a 911 engine posted awhile ago. I can't figure out how to "search" it here?

Actually it was a 312PB. And that engine ran-- like it could power the car. Not just being spun over on compressed gas like these other models. It sounded awesome - just like a real 312 engine. It didn't sound like a dentist drill like this 911 engine. I still have a copy of that 312 clip (from an early Top Gear or 5th Gear I believe) on my computer. It's got Jeremy Clarkson doing the voiceover.

i searched for the animated 911 enging, on Pelican. couldt find that, but this is a cool site with ALL types of engines http://www.keveney.com/Engines.html

svandamme 09-24-2005 10:44 AM

that is so sweet,

i'm thinking 6 little carbs from those RC engines
slap the whole thing on a RC chassis, with a 906 bodyshell

"what kind of engine do you have in that RC?

Porsche , flat six...

what? , no seriously

yeah man , those little 1cyllinder 2strokers are sooooo 2004 !
i'm only running 4stroke 6bangers these days, so much better "

btw, i found that mfi animated gif in my archive , but it's too big to upload to pelican
so i posted it on

Very nice and very crazy!

I got the chance to work at the Smithsonian right after college doing aircraft restoration.

For fun, one of the machienists built a R-4360 28 cylinder scale model.

What a hoot.
