How do I get rid of marks in black paint

My Black 83SC looks fine from a reasonable distance but when looking closer at the roof, sun-roof and hood there are marks on it which look a bit like water marks.

The paint is still smooth (not going dull or matt) but the marks are a little silverish in appearance and irregular in shape.

Colour is plain old Black - non metalic. I have tried with polish (mcGuires) with no change but wanted some opinions before I start looking at mild cutting as I don't know if it might just be a clearcoat going off with age. As far as I can tell its still the original paint.

Did a look at some threads but can't see anything.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Tim

Keep buying parts to make it look older.

A clay bar might help, never tried one but lots of people use them for things that regular washing won't handle.

3M makes a "Swirl Mark Remover" for dark colered cars. It has done wonders for my black Carerra. I don't know if it will help, but it may be worth a try before you resort to more drastic measures.
