87 Carrera windshield molding issue
Hi guys,
Had a new windshield installed yesterday and the installer could not get the moldings to fit flat on any of the corners. He told me he can do it by just manipulating it while the windshield is still in the car? Here are my questions and observations with photos below - The windshield “gasket” has a line Where it was mended together, I would assume it’s the centerpoint for the gasket by using the antenna line as center. Looking at my photo it’s about 1.5 inches to the right... Can having it a little off affect the molding installation? Interestingly the rubber gasket is flat all around. It is an OE Porsche gasket and trim moldings . Would he need to take out the windshield again and start over? I feel like they installed the molding after the windshield was installed reasoning for having such an issue. Let me know if this is something that can be pressed in while the windshield is in the car or will they have to pull it out and start over again. I did see the other threads and techniques used to get the molding on which would require windshield out. Would appreciate any help! ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Vino; 08-01-2020 at 07:19 AM.. |

The trim needs to be worked into the groove before the glass assembly is installed onto the car. No way it's going in afterwards.

Thank you! Let’s hope they can take the windshield out with care and redo the molding....
