Although larger may be cheaper, POR15 reacts with moisture to cure so if you do not plan to use a lot at a time, it may more advantageous to buy smaller quantities.
I also believe it is not UV stable, so top-coating may be necessary for any exposed to sun areas. It is great stuff. I restored a vintage truck many years ago with minimal prep of the rusted frame, and it still looks perfect. I buy directly from the planr, but it is only about 20 minutes away from me in Morristown, NJ. Best Wishes, Ron Y 1970 911 E Targa |

I think a quart would cover the engine bay, I used a quart to cover both from and rear trunks on my old 914

Be aware that surface prep is very important with POR-15. Yeah, you can paint over rust, but you can't paint over any kind of contaminent that's oily, silicone-y, whatever. The surface needs to be very clean or the POR-15 will soon peel off in huge, strong, tough, very nice sheets.
I've kept POR-15 for a couple of years easy in the back of the refrigerator, behind the lettuce. Just make sure you don't contaminate it by so much as dipping a paintbrush into it--you use it from an external vessel or plan to throw away the rest of the can once you're done with the job at hand--and follow their isntructions to put a layer or two of Saran Wrap between can and lid if you get any paint into the sealing groove. Buy the 6 pack of pints, and wear glasses and gloves. That stuff stays on skin even after heavy scrubbing.
POR15 is not infalible though. It's peeled from painted surfaces(not well prepped), and some boat brackets I made last year with an opened, left-over container recently showed rust comming through, but it may have started before painting. Prep is key. I've ordered a few batches and when one arrived, it was kind of lumpy, like it had frozen. That may have been a fluke though. |

If they don't, go to POR-15's website and order it. It'll be there two days later and you won't have to drive anywhere.

Buy the cleaner and use as directed, if you're paying for POR-15 you might as well get all the benefits. If you want to take short-cuts dont buy POR, just use regular rust paint.

PBH is absolutely right. POR-15 is a complete system, not a magic paint. That's why I said prep is crucial. Go to their website, read the information and instructions--it's relatively extensive--and then decide whether you want to go this route.
Oh, and remember...Rust Never Sleeps. POR-15 covers it quite well, but it doesn't cancel it. Only a total vacuum can do that. Stephan
