Cruise control servo diaphram leaking? Who's the expert on this?
I believe that the diaphragm contained within the cruise control servo is leaking on my 86 Carrera.
Symptoms: 1) Cruise controls activates ok. 2) Cruise control ACCEL works ok. 3) Vehicle slowly looses speed after the cruise is set. Can the cruise control servo be rebuilt? Maybe a leaking vacuum line? Any hints are appreciated. I'm going to check if the servo will hold vacuum this evening. Thank you, HFR_Racer 1986 Targa Carrera |
Cruise control fixed....
I found the problem.. As I was changing the spark plugs I must've pushed against one of the vacuum hoses to the cruisee servo. The rubber was weak due to repeat heat exposure and fractured. This caused just enough of a vacuum leak to effect the cruisee control and make the vehicle slow when the cruise was engaged.
I was sad to see that nobody offered any suggestions to my original post. Thank you, HFR_Racer |
I have the exact same symptom that just developed with my 87 and its cruise control. Exactly what hoses were cracked? I have identified the cylinder that is the cruise control, where the throttle cable exists. I have a long ride to Baltimore and back in the morning and would like to put some duct tape on the hose that is leaking.
thanks eric |
