help inspecting transmission
I have a 82 911 wich has started popping out of gear. Im aware it could be motor mounts or transmission internals. I also have a ebay "rebuilt transmission with 8-31 r&p". I have experience rebuilding motors but I'm a transaxle virgin. The external hardware and seals look new but what route should I take to ensure the internals are good. I don't want to install it only to find a problem. What are some good inspections or test that I can do without fear of messing up anything internal. Thanks in advance.

not much you can do except tear it down to see what you have. bite the bullet and put it in.
