Looked at an 1982 SC targa today.Opinions w/pic
Well I kind of sort of have the targa bug again and there is an 82 SC in red which my wife wants on eBay. I am sitting on my own P-car bank roll since I sold the last targa. My wife would take this one when I replaced my own. I was close by I gave it a look see. Its very nice tight well maintained car with a lot of records from a shop I know really well. 90k miles $ 14k which I think is too high for my blood. Let’s hear what you guys think…

Jeremy
I always respect your opinion and I agree with you on the C2, I am a big 964 fan. She happens to like the older cars better and I don’t want to dip too much into my own coffers for my personal next purchase. I think it’s a very nice SC but it’s a bit high priced IMO. I know of an 85 ROW Cab that’s 20k which may end up being the call but then it’s a bite out of my pocket and I may sell one of the bikes.

I definitely think at 14k I would be looking for a little higher mileage g-50 carrera targa or if she's ok with the 915 - then maybe a euro carrera targa - 1985 or so - more ponies - I've seen a couple in the 14-16k range. I can't believe that you haven't jumped on anything - although you do seem to be all over the board - Carrera Turbo, regular turbo, wasn;t there a 993 too? You have way more will power than I have. What are you looking for and I'd be happy to keep my eyes open in flori-dah for you.
Anyway -

Thanks, its been a busy summer and I have been stocking away some capital. Started a totally new business this year off the exchange floor which is a new twist for me so my income was suspect for ½ the year till we got things going. I have been in serious withdrawal and I need a fix. Yea I have been all over the map with my buys in the last 15 years RSA, Speedsters, 993’s 3.2 carreras and a mess of other 911’s but I always come back to the 964 IMHO for the money it’s the best of both worlds.
One thing that’s been good for me is that my cost of ownership has always been less then a regular car or inline with a normal car since I don’t commute much and do my homework big time before a purchase. Jeremy your cab is just frigging beautiful!

Agree. It is a nice enough SC, but nothing special, and I think 14 is maybe 3k above what you could get the car for. Well maintained for sure, but from the looks of the engine compartment not necessarily "loved".

i disagree.....this car looks pretty cherry to me. quite low mileage for an 82, paint and body look great, and if the engine checks out and a PPI comes back positive this car is most definately worth 14k. heck it still has the original speedo and ride height!
in my opinion I would also consider a 964 for $20-25 if you can find a good one......much better for a wife's daily driver, better AC, better drivability.... also if you do consider this SC, have the targa roof inspected carefully because if the vinyl is cracking at all or the headliner needs replacing, etc... it can get pricey and if it rains where you are, you will need to get it fixed. You have to also know that I am slightly biased to Guards Red SC Targas! ![]()
