Mid-Year Sport Seats in an 87 Question

I am installing a pair of mid-year (1974-1977) sport seats in my 1987 Carrera 3.2. The seat belt recepticles for the 1987 seats are on the seat frame itself. The mid-year sport seats do not have seat belt recepticles attached to the seat frame.

I assume the recepticles were attached to the chassis tunnel on the earlier cars.

(1) Does my 1987 have attachment points for the seat belt recepticles on the tunnel?

(2) Can I just use the recepticles from my 1987 seats by attaching them to the chasis?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Mike

Mike,

In the 85 911 model, the tunnel mounted seat belt receptacles were eliminated.

You can certainly weld in the inserts to the tunnel, challenging.

I would try to adapt your late seat belt receptacles to the pivot / side plates. Take one of the screws out, add washers and mount the late receptacles.

Good Luck - Call anytime if you need additional assistance.

Thank you,
Jason

Thank you very much for the information Jason. I will take a look at mounting them on the side of the seat.

Jason, do you have any 16X9 used Fuchs? Give me a PM if you do.

Use seat rails from non power seats 86 -89 or so. Your seat belt receiver will then bolt to them and they will attach to your early seats

Thats also a good idea - The issue with that is when you go to sell your old seats - Its a challenge selling them without sliders or correct sliders.

Mike - Only new 9s - Will send you a pm.

Thank you,
Jason

After conducting another search on this subject, I learned that the Brey Krause adapter that fits on the seat rails will foul the heater box on the center console. I read a post, however, that shows a Porsche part for the RSA will work. It is part #964.521.065.00.
