Tonight on Barrett Jackson
Somehow I thought this car would have sold for more. Maybe the wrong crowd for this sort of car

Barret-jackson isn't really geared towards the Porsche crowd. they are more muscle car mullet type that get caught up in the hype and are willing to pay waaaaay more than a car is worth, I like to think that Porsche people are more sophisticated

That car was a bargain. One of my buds now has it and it is even better than when it crossed the block. Very nice thin metal early series car

An Oldsmobile concept car from the mid 50's sold tonight at the B-J auction for $3,000,000! That's right boys and girls, 3 mil!! The previous record holder for a single car was a Hispano Suiza that had sold for 2 mil.
And the beat goes on.........

I agree about the price on the Carrera RS, but I think we look at it as a good buy/investment.
Some of the otheres have to be a result of just having too much money. Where did the mullets get all that dough? |

Dave,
Glad to hear that this car is being cared for, it needed some TLC. IMHO that is one of possitive things about rising values for these older 911s. Owners have an incentive to restore/rebuild a car to perserve it for the future. I'm sure you would agree though that this car was not a 23,000 KM original car. There was no documents to prove this and the condition was not consistent with that low mileage.

Great screen capture.
I agree Barrett Jackson, has really done a great job in escalating the price of Muscle Cars and rare domestics. Yasin

I wonder the same thing, but I believe most of those mullet-heads are bidding for wealthy non-mullet types over the phone.

Barrett Jackson's take on a 3 mil car is 240,000! No wonder he's always smiling

The mullet types in Michigan where I now live also have fancy airplanes, and drive nicer cars than I do except of course my 930, but they still live in trailer parks. LOL

When I bought my 911 about six years ago, I was also considering a muscle car (no, I don't have a mullet). I wanted a '68 or '69 Charger, but was considering 'Cudas and such. In Hemmings Motor News, rough Hemi cars were going for $30K and nice ones were available for $65k. Today, rough ones go for more like $100K and nice ones go for more than double that.

yes- it is the real deal. I climbed all over it at the long beach show (following the auction/ la. literature meet) it drove fairly well- the shocks needed loosening up or replacement from sitting so long. there were cosmetic issues and lots of other small details, but overall i was impressed with it- especially in light of the sales price!
Truly is a thin metal, as you can easily push in the roof, and bend the trunk floor behind the gas tank

I will never ever understand why those pieces of garbage get so much. Nothing hand made about them. A car considered rare in the American world has a production run of 5000 when most hand-made not rare Euro-cars have a total production run of 5000 with 40 or so that are really rare and special. I always look forward to seeing the look on the American Hemi crowd's faces when they are in Monterey where the real beautiful cars are. It's like they just hatched out of their shell and are seeing the world in a new way. They know they cant put their "scweet pimped out Cuda" next to that Ferrari 275 without wanting to take their car to the trash compactor. The sound of an American v8 has not changed. They have the same boring drone they have always had, nothing exciting. Even the new Ford gt. /snore

A lot of the mullets in Mi are employees of the big three (In short, overpaid UAW employees) and other auto related businesses serving the big 3.

Buying a Muscle Car for that sort of money is only a Status Symbol nothing more, although I recognize that with those amounts $$$I rather buy a nice home in the beach to rent it and buy a new Cayman with the revenues .
