Pic of Cylinder Head Temp Sensor location?

Hi,

Can someone please post a pic of exactly where the Cylinder Head Temp sensor is situated on the '84-'89 Carrera?

I've read it's near Cyl # 3, but can someone please post a pic for me plz?

Is it (i.e: the wire going into the engine) visible when you raise the car and remove the left tyre?

Thanks in advance SmileWavy

Yep, that's it. There's a rubber seal in the engine tin the white wire goes through. Peel it back and the sensor is hiding there. If you need to remove/replace it, you'll need to purchase or fab up a special tool. I made one out of a deep socket welded to a box end wrench with a slot cut in the side to clear the wire. It's a pain in the a** to reach, but it can be done.

Great! Thanks for the pics Chris ;)

At least I now know where to look :D

What's the BOSCH part # for this component?

Another approach is to cut the wire and take the old CHT sensor out with a standard deep socket. Tape the new plug end to the clipped wire to help fish it back into the engine compartment. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to tighten the new CHT. Fairly strat forward once you are in there. The hardest part is getting the gromet seated.
