I have searched and have not found a recommendation for a clear laminate that one can put over the paint as to protect it during track events. Normally, I don't mind a few nicks, but the track car has just been released from the paint shop.
Anyway, what do folks use/recommend. TIA Here is a shot of the 3.2 beast and the 3.6 SC.

Its called contact paper (what I use) and can be found at target with the drawer liners.
I dont know if thats what the pros use, but it works great.

I was tired of dealing with bras on both Porsche's. I thought I did my homework. Went to Starshield in Irwindale, CA. They were one of the first with the technology. They do the Lotus Elise when ordered from the dealers. They did a pi$$ poor job on the 986! Had them remove it, the installer had cut the film on the car! Bumper skin damaged and one mirror
There is a vast difference in the different films, some are clearer than others, even though they are all made by 3M, at least the ones I researched. The other trick is competent installers. As I have learned the hard way, being first in the business had nothing to do with professional knowledgeable installation. I am sticking with the bras. Good luck.

Do they have precut pieces for mirrors and rear fender flares?

Just noticed such a product on a 2001 996TT at the dealer. The fornt bumper didn't have the protective film, but 1/2 the hood did.
The bumper/hood looked liked it was recently painted, or never driven (but by looking at the bottom of the motor, I could tell different). The headlights had plastic/lexan type of cover which was very thin. I too was thinking about the pros and cons of this product.

Thanks for all the info. Went to Ebay and picked up some bulk material (18" x 6' [9 Ft^2]) for less than $5.00 per/Ft^2.

I just bought an 84" x 12" roll of the 3m stuff from my local Dupont auto paint store (about $80.00). It is available in less than 12" wide rolls also.
This is the same stuff basically that comes on 944's to protect the lower fenders.
