930 sway bar/ engine removal

do i need to remove the swaybar in order to remove the engine/tranny assembly. on my car the sway bar is right under the mounts for the transmission. also if can i remove the sway bar with weight on the wheels or does the car have to be jacked up so the wheels are off the ground because right now i have the tires on blocks to drop the motor out. this is my first engine removal and any advise would be helpful.
thanks
-larry

Yes it has to come out, and with a pry bar you should be able to remove it even under load.

I do the ends first, but you could do it either way.

I'd remove the bolts (M10 with a 17mm head?) through the drop link first then the 2 small bolts (M8 with a 13mm head?) that hold the bar to the mount.

And yes, the bar has to go before you can drop the engine/tranny assembly as others said.
