Big red Upgrade (Questions)

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my breaks to the big red ones found on porsche turbo cars and am now having difficulty stopping my car.
Can any of you tell me where I went wrong? I was told this was a great upgrade for my car.

I followed the instructions to the letter and they look GREAT but the wheels bearly move anymore when I drive and it stinks like all sorts of hell.

It's probably your muffler bearings. Better call Motor Meister and ask them. If that doesn't work, get a cool collar from PartWerks.

Dood! That looks hellasweet!

I think I know where you went wrong but I can't tell from the pic. Did you add the Armor-all to your tire tread to make them jet fokkin' black? I bet if you do that your ride will get all the chicas!!

I see the problem!! You neglected to paint the hub nut cover red also!!! The brake disc will stop rotating when the brakes are applied, but the hub (and hence the wheel) will keep on rotating since it is not also red! (the paint keeps the two tied together!) If you're out of red paint, use JB weld, worked for me!!

Did you use a metric screwdriver?? Too funny!!

The sad thing is that you see this on occasion in my part of the world. I get a kick out of the massive rear wing on Nissan Sentra.

Took the words right out of my mouth Don.

Oh and, "Did you do a search?"

Are you going with white or black lettering? Maybe gold would look good.

Verburg has lots of info on his site regarding this exact upgrade.

As I recall, you may need to switch to the fully floating red rotors for the best results.

"Porsche Racing" all the way baby yeah!!!

I don't think you properly broke in the pads. You're going to need some Pagid orange to take the shine off the red a little.

poorb0yw 10-05-2005 07:41 PM

LOL.

you are too much leland. and i thought i was crazy. :p

Jgordon 10-05-2005 07:55 PM

Do those brakes have Vtec?

Jays72T 10-05-2005 08:03 PM

Did you bleed the brakes properly? This can cause stopping difficulties. As for the stink, it should go away after your pads are broken in.

Also, if you ever see any silver on the disc, make sure you use Ricer Red Brake spray to clear it up, it works wonders.

Bwaaahhhhh, too funny.

You might need to go buy a quart of elbow grease. And change your blinker fluid while you are in there. Always remember, the more stickers you have the faster it will go.

Stanley 10-05-2005 09:55 PM

While you are making some “improvements” you might as well get some light bulb filaments and replace those fan belt buckles.

You must clean with dielectric grease and use high heat VHT paint.

Porsche_monkey 10-06-2005 03:44 AM

Put them on eBay.
