Newbie: Pleas help with my new chassis!

Hello everybody, I have been reading on this board for about 2 weeks now and am very impressed! I need help. My friend recently bought a 78 SC targa porsche just for the engine and gave me the chassis. It's complete minus the engine, tranny and wheels.
The problem is that it's been crashed before. it seems that it was fixed properly but I'm not sure and that really bothers me. In a local shop they are selling a bare 74 targa tub which seems to be straight and rust free (for about $500).
My questions are these:

1. Should I just assume that the work was down properly and fix her up? The floor pan is bowled and in the engine bay you can see where it's been fixed. (See the pictures)

2. Can I find out if the chassis is twisted/bent by taking some measurements? I don't want to pay $1000+ to send it to the porsche shop. The doors open fine and everything seems to line up.

3. Should I just buy the 74 tub and transfer everything else? Are the chassis identical? (74 to 78)

Any advise would be very greatly appreciated.

I might just sell this rolling chassis. Everything is complete except the engine, tranny and wheels. Electric windows, light and heater all work.

It's cost you nothing until now... Run Away!

You could actually make a few bucks parting the rest of it out, but I don't think I'd bother trying to straighten it out...
