Advice on shipping parts

Hi all,
just bought a great '72 911 from a guy down in North Virginia, and he has some miscellaneous parts that the car originally came with, as well as the original engine.

I need to get these transported from his place to Boston, and I was wondering if anyone had done something similar, and if so, who they'd used...

tia

Fedex Gnd is pretty cheap - when I checked, it was cheaper than DHL (which as a start-up, ought to be rock bottom)

USPS is usuall cheaper for 1-2 lb. pkgs.

Don't overlook Greyhound bus -- TRE is shipping my replacement rear bumper this way - & they found a fast, cheap way to ship (BTW - it replaces a Rennspeed piece of crap)

hey there,
thx for the reply - I'd have never considered greyhound...

only thing is, I'm not sure if the engine is too heavy for these services - Fedex Ground has a weight limit of 150lb, and greyhound a limit of 100 - I just dont have a real concept of how heavy an engine is - anyone?

thx

making a complete thumb in the air estimate of the engine weighing 300lb, fe4dex will cost almost 500 bucks to ship which seems like rather a lot , bearing in mind I also have seats & other misc bits to get north....

my latest plan is to fly down to DC in the morning and hire a minivan to drive back to Boston which will cost about 250-300 and 1 days missed new car driving time...

If you can arrange for the seller to take it to Dulles airport, then Forward Air is usually a bargain. The 400lb + engine should cost about $150. This is terminal to terminal, so you must pick it up at Forward Air at Boston/Logan.

hey there -thanks for the info, its good to know. Only thing is, the guy I'm buying the egine / car parts from is moving down to Texas, and I think the last thing he needs is another chore!

I think I am going to stick with the minivan plan for now...
