1983 911 Sc Wont Idle
Strange thing happened on the way to work yesterday.
Engine started normal and had idle normal but after I let it warm up I and left the house and got to the first stop light it died. Started back up ok but now it wont idle at all. Had to drive to work and back using the emergency brake and revving it at stops. The only thing that's different from the day before is the temperature. It's about ten fifteen degrees colder now. Any Ideas? Thanks K.T. 1983 911 SC 1973 911 E 2.4 MFI 1965 Devin "D" - 1967 912 Power Plant |
Ah, the joys of CIS troubleshooting. How's your WUR? And loose hoses? How old's your fuel filter?

Hey Kevin
Im still learnin my CIS sys and have a couple cars arpound to xchange known good parts for suspect bad parts.... also you will probably get alot more help if you ask questions like thios in the bbs tech section... Good luck ! Tony |
Sounds like a vacuum leak right off the top of my head. Any flapping hoses? Clamps on the air intake boot tight? Any cracks? Do you have a popoff valve installed and is it seated properly? Will it eventually idle when it gets warm enough?

Have a spare WUR if you want, it's a rebuilt with ~3k on it.

Thanks for your responses. I'm at work right now
so I'll fool around with it over the weekend. It has pop off and it's seated. not sure about how old the fuel filter is. Had to drive the truck today. It wont idle when warm either. It got to dark on me to play around much last night. I was able to check for vacume leaks but saw nothing. Will spend more time with it in the day light with some help from my brother. As if I did'nt have enough on my plate as it is. Just gutted the bathroom and need to get back going on that project. Thanks Again.
