Engine Compartment Part ID Help
 

I have bought a 3.2 engine to transplant into my 72, on removing this engine from its original car there was two vacume type hoses that came out of a screw in bung on the throttle body. These hoses went to a device in the right hand side of the engine bay.

Any one have any idea what this is for and can I run my engine without it??
