Quick WUR Question (w/ pic)

I pulled out my WUR to open it up and clean out any gunk. Unfortunately, I had to pry a bit to get it to finally open up. When I did, I had parts everywhere. Well, I've found all my parts, but I wasn't able to see how everything was laid out beforehand. My I've figured out how the springs go (I think), but not clear on where the "hat" goes. Does it sit on top of the two springs with the point going up? I assume that's the way it goes, but thought I'd solicit input before putting it together and back into the car wrong.

The "hat" goes down towards the spring with a small metal rod that fits into the hole in the bimetallic spring.

use a dab of point grease to stick the pin in the hat. it keeps it pointing up so you can assemble the halves.

Here is a photo to help. The hat goes down into the wire spring as a seat. It has a metal rod that then goes up to the bimetallic spring.

Yup you can see the grease on mine..... keep it from falling out on reassembly

This forum never ceases to amaze me. Great members. Thanks for the info and pics. I didn't realize there was a pin. Sure enough, looking around when the WUR exploded, there was the pin laying on the ground.

Thanks again!
