bought my first 911 (used of course)

Bought my dream car as a kid today from a nice fellow in houston TX. I pick it up tommorow morn.

It's a Guards Red 1986 Carrera coupe, and while its not in "mint" condition, it will be good to bring it from a "B" car to an "A". You know, get my feet wet with these cars.

On one hand Im psyched, on the other Im scared to death!!ha ha. Not knowing what lies in the future mechanically can be unnerving. The PPI went good, no major deals!

So I guess I'll hand the RX8 over to my wife, and a Porsche driving I will go.

If anybody is interested in pics, I'll get them up as soon as I can.

Glad to be part of the family.

Congratulations! It is a standing rule that pictures are mandatory for all car purchases.

You started out right by getting the PPI. And you are in the right place to get help with the mechanicals, upfixin and maintenance. So relax.

You are in good shape.

Don't worry about the car, it'll be just fine. One of the most reliable cars someone can own. Assuming you maintain it, of course ;)

thanks for the encouragement, I'll get pics taken as soon as I wash her up and get here back home. As for "being in a good place for the mechanicals" I wish that were true, I live in Lafayette Louisisana - to them Porsche might as well be a country for all they know. There are no really good shops around, just general european independent auto shops. So I guess that means I'll be getting my hands dirty. BTW, is the Bentley (<sp?) the best one to get for trouble shooting and fixing?

I dont understand "924". I see that my message got cut, does that mean im only allowed 924 words a post?

btw, the ending goes like this . . . "the best manual for troubleshooting and working on the car?"

Welcome...I was born in Lafayette but I moved to Texas before I was old enough to remember much. My only memory was the first time I recall eating grits...I've been hooked ever since! Was there much damage from the flood there?

No, not any really. Both Katrina and Rita missed us both - thankfully.
