Water in passenger compartment

Ok, after a past 2 day rain deluge I came out to the car and found 2 big puddles of water in driver/passenger floor areas WTH... The car is usually garaged. Opened the sunroof and checked the drain holes with plastic wire seems clear, I believe those holes lead out to the top vents above the rear window? The inside header area is dry.Opened up the front hood and tried to look to see if that lower vent under front windshield area is clogged. Can't tell.

Any ideas?

Dan

Make sure that the drain at the bottom of the dresh air vent box has the acordian like hose between it and the hole in the trunk.

Dan,

I went through the very same thing. Because the water was under the carpeting and only on the flat part of the floor, just in front of both seats, I refused to believe all of the sage advice here on Pelican that it was the windshield seal. well - it was. My sunroof drains were clean; my fresh air vent drain was clean. I couldn't believe that the water could get to the floor in front of the seats without leaving any trail from the windshield down to under the dash. But, I haven't had the problem since I had the windshield and the gasket/seal replaced. I had even replaced the door seals and silicone sealed the bottom corners of the old windshield.

If this is a 944 check for rust in the battery tray. Water runs right down into the passenger foot area.

I second the windshield seal. In my 930 I ended up with the interesting situation that when it rained a lot a capillary leak on the passenger side filled up the glovebox, which made of pressed felt, then slowly dripped down to the carpet below. Took for-ever to figure this out.

God, I miss that car.

How do you get access to the bottom of the fresh air vent box?

Is it inside the trunk? Or under the car somewhere?

Dan,

After posting my reply earlier, I went outside to check my car. We had 6 inches of rain yesterday and the car was outside. Although the footwell is bone dry, I found some water under the right rear jump seat cushion. This happened once before - after a very lengthy, heavy rain. I think this is from the rear window seal. After all, it is 24 years old!

The good news is that it is obvious that the other more frequent problem has been completely resolved.

Inside the trunk. Not very difficult.

Yeah, I think the whole Northeast had this rain. Well, I'll be damned, its the windshield gasket. I planned on taking out the windshield soon anyway to address some small rust bubbling under the lower windshield area. Hope its not more than a little.

I heard that there is fitment problems with the new gaskets they sell?

Guys,as usual thanks for the direction.

Dan
