3.2 swap: tach

Ive got the right tach on the way for my 3.2 swap into my '72. I know I have to run a wire somewhere to get the signal, but I have no idea where. Is it going to come off of the 14 pin connector? Whats the best way to do this?

TIA

Attached is the charting or cross referance for the pins/wires from a early 70 to a 3.2, the tach wire is the black with a purple stripe. Hope it helps.

good time to clean all those little pins too

be ULTRA careful not to get them mixed up or broken, etc.

helps to have 2 people...

Sounds like your swap is going along so good luck.

Sherman,
Keep us posted. Was it hard so far? What parts did you use from the 2.4 ...sheet metal? DId you put a hole in the rear seat area for the new wires? DId you take lots of pics.

What do you think your Hp will be?

Thanks guys. Its not moving that fast right now. Im just trying to get everything lined out so that it goes smoothly. Ive got a bunch of work to do before I bolt the motor in. And still a lot more work to do before it ever gets fired up.

Derek, I dont know about the HP. Stock should be somewhere near 217. With all of the add on stuff I guess I might be near 230. It will be plenty for my skinny tires whatever it is. 217 is probably 100 more than I had before.

Garage
I'm also in the gathering stage for my 3.2 swap. I pressure washed the engine bay this weekend and will work on it more soon.

I'm stoked! The work has mostly been in a backwards direction (cleaning/prepping etc..) but its now starting to head forward.
