89 octane experiment
Gents,
filled up with 89 octane today in my 78 911SC Protosport 3.2 motronic turbo conversion. Motor is set at .6 bar with intercooler and Protosport fuel mapping. I've run 93 Mobil/Exxon or 94 Sunoco Ultra since the conversion was done 7 years ago. I ran the car today under boost and lugged the motor several times with no apparent problems. The car pulled strong form 1000 rpm's in 4th and 5th gears. Also rolled on the gas up a steep hill in 4th gear with no hesitation or bucking?. What gives? Anyone else running 89 succesfully?. 89 OK
I use 89 octane with no problems. No knock, ping, bling. There are plenty of threads on the subject.

You will not hear a knock or ping on the engine........our cars - esp turbos - are notorious for NOT communicating these important 'noises'
Bring up the octane!
