Retractable belts in early car
Who has done this?
I have a 70 T that came with non-retractable belts, i have been running 4 point-ers for a number of years and am going to switch to SC belts. I am curious to see where people have mounted the reel. I have considered pulling the carpet and welding on a mount, but want to see what others have done first. Paul

Here are a couple of thread on mine. I did not do the install, so I can't help with too many details, but the photos tell a lot, I think.
New seats are in! New seatbelts in an old car?

The mounts for the belt reels are already in the body under the carpet/panels. It is a bolt in operation. I have the belts from the 78SC I parted mounted in the 71 coupe. The only issue is having to mount the lower attachment point and the belt recepticle to the seat rails/mounts like the 70/71 cars had.

Thanks guys.
Jamie, i kind of thought that. I may do some exploratory carpet pulling this week. I got a nice set of belts off ebay from Dave W. He was not too happy with the price though. ![]() Paul

Unhappy, no - surprised, yes. Seems like good belts usually bring good $. Just glad one of the local crowd got 'em.
This is one of the last details I haven't figured out on my car. Since I already let the '78 set go like an idiot, I will probably go with the PEParts setup (and at ~10x the cost, a bargain!) Just gotta re-check my car and make sure the lower, outer mounting boss is present.
