Feedback on Phonedials

I have a guards red '80 SC targa, and I am thinking of putting on a set of phonedials for my winter wheels and tires. The polished alloys seem not to like the inclement weather in the Northwest. And, Yes, I do drive in the rain!

I obtained a set and am thinking of having them either powder coated white or possibly the cheap rattlecan method described in some other refinishing threads here.

Here is a BADLY photoshopped concept of what it should look like. MY APOLOGIES TO THE OWNER OF THE ORIGINAL CAR! the pic was the best side view of a red 911 I could find. And yes, I know it is not an SC! But it is the right color and the right shape!

Give me some feedback on the color and the wheels themselves - not on the bad graphics work I am not an Artiste'!

I just did this to my car, 15x7 Phone dials that I rattle can painted flat black. These are mainly winter wheels so they will be simple to maintain.

You'll find the 'phone dials' quite easy to keep clean. No spots that won't hose right out. I've also thought the organic shape of the 'dials' worked better with the strong vertical targa bar.
Remarkable how the change to black seems to change the character of the wheels, isn't it?
What color is your targa bar? Black might raise your BA quotient!

I would think that powder coat costs more than the wheels themselves, so I'd say rattle can. Since they're winter wheels, gray or black might be a better color. I like the white photochop, but they won't stay white for very long...

To set the record staright, the phone dials are factory painted (silver paint of somekind) unless someone did something to them. I would not paint over them, although the yellow and black car does look tough and ready to rock.

My car:

I think white phone dials would look silly, especially on a red car. I use silver ones for track wheels and they look good.

I appreciate the feedback. Especially the pictures.

kach22i - I really like the look of these on your targa.

Grey would be easier to keep clean and is probably a lot more "classic." Plus, I would not need to paint them.....
