3.2 in a 930
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new '80 930 Euro and have located a '89 3.2 motronic engine to drop in ( yeah I know the 4 speed is going to be a bit long for it, but I'm going to lower 1st gear). So my questions are:
Will the tack be compatible with the motronic?? What to do with the rear fuel pump? Since the motronic DME relay doubles as the fuel pump relay.. T

Soooo, the 930 has no engine in it, correct?
Turbo that 3.2 so you can take advantage of that tall first gear ![]()

Nope, the plan is to run it for a year doing DE's, while I shop for a 3.3. then NEXT winter drop a turbo into it. Besides if I need boost I've got this

I would not bypass the rear pump. I would plumb in a fuel regulator and make the fuel system look like a 3.2. Plus the 2nd pump

I think it is going to be a PITA to do what you want to do for only 1 year. I would listen to Merv and turbo the 3.2 next winter. Dean

Does it count if Chris is helping me ?? LOL
I don't anticipate any problems with the 930 tranny. I don't want to invest in a turbo motor right now. and I wasn't thinking it would be that tough.. You've got me re-thinking it now.

The 3.2L Carrera motor has its own regulator. Seems like it should work fine. Just have to plumb the inlet side to the Carrera fuel line (splits to both fuel rails) and then the outlet side of the regulator to the fuel return line. I see no problem with keeping the fuel system stock and trying it. I don't see why getting the tach to work should be too hard? There is a thread out there with a link to a website on the electrical for the 3.2. If you can find that you should be able to track down how to interface the electrical to your car. I bet it is not bad.

Just so know Souk just mated a 930 trans to a 3.2 based engine and it was a terrible amount of work. I dont know if the situation is different than this but just make sure you do the research first.
