Restoration Porn: Cad plating and powder coating come together

While my car is out on an extended bodywork and paint spa vacation, I've been bored!! Been getting all sorts of goodies powdercoated and plated - here's a sneak preview of the culmination of much of my efforts of late. Credits:

New reproduction yellow shroud: Damon @ Series900
Rebuilt & modified injection pump, rebuilt & recurved distributor, and powdercoated & plated fan/housing: Henry Schmidt @ Supertec Performance
Powder coatings - all other parts (their 20% gloss is the closest match I've seen to the original factory black paint): TopCoat of Raleigh, NC
Cad plating: Ancient Chinese Secret!!!

Paul - GOOD eye - that is a breather that Supertec installed. In the interests of practicality the pump has been converted to an independent oil supply. Trying to rule out at least one source of fuel/oil contamination...

you realize with this new shiny engine, your engine bay is going to look like crap with all the undercoating

Incredibly "sano" looking engine.
Love the clean, no nonsense, factory look.
It is hard to improve upon the original look of these MFI engines.
Really great.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, Tim's right! Dave, you're gonna need to walnut shell blast the entire car and repaint it. Cad plate all the lit bits and pieces. You're gonna be the bling master!

Heheheh! We're making a concession to good looks and away from originality in a few instances, one being the engine bay. I am going to go ahead and paint the engine bay in body color (936 Silver) over the textured factory undercoating. Jim, funny you should mention that...the car is still stripped and has been languishing in the shop for over a year, but it is finally getting some attention again. Might have pics of a body-in-primer by the end of the month. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Tony Garcia is stitching away on my interior as we speak, and all the trim bits are getting shipped out for rechroming or reanodizing next week. I'm just afraid when I go to put the car back together I'm going to dent, scratch, or tear something expensive...
