Midwest Pelicanite / Taj Kreuzer Donation arrangement for Austin
Im sure that many of you have been following the story of Thrown Hammer's (Shawn French) nephew Austin and the terrible health trials that he has been enduring. If not, you can get up to speed here - Austin Update.
As anyone who has had to deal with issues like this in thier family know, the costs can be quite extensive even with good insurance. With this in mind, Several of the Dayton area Pelicanites along with John Dixon of the Taj Ma Garaj have established a PayPal account to help Austins parents with some of the unexpected expenses that they might be dealing with. Mr Dixon has promised to match anything we raise up to 1k. If you would like to help by making a donation you can use paypal accout -bbrogan@woh.rr.com-. Fellow Pelicanite Bill Brogan aka Flyer88 will then forward the funds to Shawn and his family. We would like to be able to send the money prior to Aug 30 so that it will be received for the benifit car show on Sept 3rd. Thanks in advance for your genorosity.

You guys are awesome. I hope some of you can drive over for the carshow. I will present the check to Austin's parents at the show.
A little update on Austin: He had to go back to Riley because his counts dropped to zero. He was there for a few days and is now back home with a bunch of antibiotics in his IV. I loaned Austin a flip up screen for his PS2 so he could play it in his hospital bed and now his parents want to harm me.... ![]()

Thanks Bernie, the ball is rolling! This is my own personal paypal account (little used) - the balance in the account as of 7/24/05 goes to the cause. This is a Premier account so it is subject to the 2.9% Paypal fee but outside of that all funds received along with the matching contribution from The Taj will be sent to Austin's parents to help with his expenses. Thanks for the write up Dave - nice to have an author on hand!

We've topped the $400 mark! If you haven't read the origional thread referenced in Dave's message take the time to do it - Austin has got to be one strong Porsche loving kid! Leave a message when you've made a contribution and we will keep this near the top of the board!

Having been there with a medically challenged child myself I can say this is a really great thing you're doing. I give you all credit for stepping up and helping the cause. My prayers go out to Austin and his family.
On another sad note I know some of you arre from the Cinci/Dayton area and probably know Dick Stevens. He has a red C2 and a newly purchased spec miata. His C2 has a Taj logo on it and his Miata has a Garaj logo on it. Dick and his wife Sandy attend a lot of the Nasa events I go to including Gingerman two weeks ago and Putnam last weekend. Anyway, Sandy was away from the track last weekend in Indy while Dick was driving and was involved in a very serious accident. She has been in the hospital in critical condition since last weekend. Please say a prayer for them as well. More info can be attained at www.nasaforums.com/viewforum.php?f=13&sid=e45b80dfbc8b043798f796d1f0010e36 John

He is starting to lose his hair so they had the family head shaving party.(Austin's mom did not participate)
He isn't getting as sick this time around from the chemo. My kids go there to play as much as possible and spent the day over there today. He has so many toy cars from you guys he gave some to my sons and they "share" with me sometimes.
