Hey for 200.00 what do you expect Well got the car home and started looking deep into the car 66 911] It has a new front suspension pan in the front and some patches in the floor then i looked closer and it looks like the pedal assembly area is bad but what really bothers me is where the suspension bolts into the rear section of the gas tank support [right side].. Im looking for this sheetmetal and its obsolete so what do i do?????? Does anyone know of a source for this area Thanks

If you can’t find the parts it is best to carefully store the car in a controlled environment until they are available. In the interim, collect everything necessary to properly restore the 911. You are the current caretaker of a special Porsche vehicle. Don’t shirk your responsibility. If you are unwilling (I don’t think so) you should find someone restoring a similar 911 and sell/give it to a proper caretaker.

Your find shouldn’t go unnoticed or unrewarded. It could have been crushed or let sit in a field.

Paul, I know a thing or two about rust in 66 911's. Send me a PM and let's find a way to get together, I can take a look and tell you what you're up against.

My "driver" quality 66 will probably require $30K before it's all done to be reasonable for concours. The guys who WIN, well, their cars NEVER had rust, they were always perfect.

Anyway, you might want to consider the entirety of the task before you start down the road. . . the most expensive Porsche is the one you get for free. . . NOT to discourage you in the slightest, but merely to give you the benefit of my experience in searching for, buying, and planning for the future of a SWB "NLA" car.

Looks restorable to me. But, what I don't understand is this, "where the suspension bolts into the rear section of the gas tank support [right side]" The gas tank support is more commonly thought of as a component of the front suspension pan. Back under the cowel is another matter and is a part you would find at a salvage yard or a stripped toss-away shell. For instance, John Walker's Workshop has had some trouble in GIVING AWAY a 912. Wrong side of the country for you, but if you heed Grady's advice, you will come across what you need in time. Maybe a short time. Be patient. When I'm not patient and scramble for what I need and pay too much, the same item invariably shows up in the next month for peanuts.

Ask me about H1's and I can tell you this is so true. ;)

For $200 I thought that I wouldnt be able to figure out that it was a 911. Now if that was the real price of ownership...:p

I'm suspecting it's where the doubler welds on for the drivers side, front most, beam support bolt.

Basically, where the front beam goes through the hump, there's two front and two rear bolts, the bolt on the front side (gas tank side), drivers side for the beam.
