2.7 Heads on 2.4 Cylinders?

Can I use 2.7 heads on 2.4 pistons and cylinders?

I think you would be lowering your compression - not good.

Yes, no problem.

The CR is unaffected.

But the spigot on top of the 84mm cyl is smaller than the rebate in the head..and there is a shallow chamfer round the chamber.

So the best thing to do is turn the heads in the lathe to remove this chamfer, and at the same time create a shallow rebate of the correct diameter for the 84mm cyls..

This will lose you 1mm approx..

But 2.2, 2.4 headds are cheap and easy to find..

Kind regards
David

the 2.7 heads are basically 2.4 heads, but a bevel is cut to open the combustion chamber curve to fit the larger bore of the 2.7. this gets the edge of the combustion chamber dome real close to the 2.4 head gasket o-ring, and leaves the inner edge of the cylinder stepped into the bore. the inner top surface of the cylinder is important to seal the head to the cylinder. i wouldn't recommend it. a 2.4 head on a 2.7 works though, and does up the compression a tad.
