Oil filter - can you change it with oil in the reservoir tank?
OK - I know why am I even asking this?
Well, last weekend I did a valve adjustment, and oil change. I drove across the bay to Parts Heaven and got the gasket kit, but totally zoned on getting more oil filters. Needless to say I still have the Mahle OC54 filter still in the car (about 4K on the filter), as I had already drained the oil and took off the valve covers. So has anyone ever done this B4? Or, will I need to drain the oil in the reservoir tank? Thanks! Bill |

Bill,
I thought the oil filter was housed above the tank, inside the engine compartment. Yes, you can change the filter without draining the oil. Remember to put some oil in your filter (as you would during a normal change), re-install, and check your level.

Cool. I had a feeling the oil was below the filter line, I just wasn't sure. Thanks for the replies.
